SECOND EDITION - 1888

Around the time I first created "ayrshirehistory.com", this little book below came to light which included poetry about Sorn and Catrine. Unfortunately, in 1998, the date of the first scans, I only copied a few selected pages of the second edition. Now many years have passed and another copy of the book came up on ebay in April 2012. I only just managed to win the bid, but when the book came through the letterbox, it was a first edition. The book I had seen was a second edition. I probably noticed at the time of the original scans, but had long since forgotten that the book from 1998 was a second edition. And here lies a problem. Like much of the material on this web site, the original contributer is no longer with us. Below, I have included a pdf file of the pages I have from that second edition. The first edition will become a pdf shortly. (Let's hope shortly means soon this time!!)

Notice that the first edition is an Ardrossan edition, while the second edition is a Kilmarnock edition, by Dunlop and Drennan, (Both newspaper printers of Kilmarnock Standard, and Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald)

This first edition was personally inscribed to Master William Donald from his Uncle Alex, Muirkirk 25th Dec 1882.
